An Introduction

Have Fun, and Happy Playing!

Learn to play the piano (or electronic keyboard) in a relaxed, easily understandable way, and start the dawn of a new day, filled with music that you'll make!

Over the course of a long teaching career, it’s been a pleasure not only to teach, but also to learn – yes, from teachers, but especially from the hundreds of wonderful students I’ve had.

With this video course, you’ll move from lesson to lesson at your own pace, starting with Lesson 1, which is designed for someone with no musical experience whatsoever. A common fault with many online piano courses is that they try to teach too much at once. I don’t claim that you’ll be able to “play the piano like a pro after just one lesson", although by the end of Lesson 1, you will be playing a melody, and by the end of Lesson 5, you'll have started to read music, and you'll be playing a right-hand melody, with harmony in the left hand. Those of you who have had lessons at one time or another can skip ahead, but I’d recommend starting with Lesson 1, just to “brush-up.

This course is designed to be at a comfortable pace, FOR YOU! You can access any lesson at any time, for as long as you wish, and view it as many times as you wish, until you're ready to move on to the next lesson. Unlike weekly scheduled lessons, you won't have to worry about being unprepared and wasting money because you've had a busy week, and haven't been able to practice as much as you'd have liked.

To give you the opportunity to see if “A Simple Approach to Learning Piano” is for you, I’m offering  Lesson 1 FOR FREE, for a limited time. Just click on the link below. If you decide you’d like to continue, you can enroll for the remaining four lessons in Unit 1. I’m planning to have five lessons in each unit, with the possibility for you to sign up for each unit individually, or for several units at once.

Please try Lesson 1, and see what a certain cookie has to do with the piano keyboard! I think you’ll see why my course is called “A Simple Approach to Learning Piano"!

About John N. Booth

My love for music began at a young age, listening, on my little record player, to nursery rhymes and folk songs, over and over again. At the age of twelve, I started composing music, and taking piano lessons. At sixteen, I began violin and piano studies at the New York College of Music. After four years of intensive study, I started playing professionally in chamber music ensembles and orchestras in the New York metropolitan area. While living in New Jersey, I founded the Plainfield Chamber Music Ensemble, which had a very successful series of concerts for several years. At the age of 22, I began giving private lessons for violin, viola, piano, and musical composition.

As a teacher, I pride myself on finding ways to help each of my students to learn and grow at a pace that is comfortable for them.

While this is my first venture into offering online piano lessons, the concepts and methods I present in each video are a culmination of everything I've learned over the last fifty-plus years of teaching.
